Thoughts on Everything…The Final Chapter

This is not the final chapter of my blogs. It is simply the last in this series entitled “Thoughts on Everything.” There will be more blogs and they will cover almost everything, including election results in November. So, let not your heart be troubled.

With that understanding, I present the Fourth Turning thesis. And at the end a few final comments about the election coming soon.

Thoughts on Everything…Part VI

The Economy: This is not an easy one. The economy is sending so many mixed messages. Even the song I chose can be interpreted in a positive or negative way as I will explain at the end. And of course, this is not investment advice and is worth what you are paying for it, which is nothing.

With those caveats, here goes:

Thoughts on…Everything - The Fifth One.

The Fifth One nomenclature is an homage to the eight Sharknado movies.

OK, they were terrible movies. But so terrible, they were kind of funny good. Like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and similar 50s horror movies.

So, are our 2026 and 2028 elections going to be terrible horror shows? Here is my analysis with 5 weeks to go before election day. I thought about waiting until after November 3rd so that my predictions would be guaranteed to be correct. A bunch of you said that was cheating, like Dems in a blue state.

Thoughts on…Everything - Part Quattro

Since this week’s blog is about California, I thought I would use the number four in the language that many in the California legislature want to become the official language of California. What better way to extinguish a culture than to change the language?

With that lead in, here’s this week’s topic:

Thoughts on…Everything - Part III

I used Roman numerals this week for our third chapter in this series. Just because. And how perfect is this week’s song? It’s like they were talking about the Democratic Socialists of America. Bad ideas and ideologies never die. They just go into remission for a bit.

Now on to this week’s topic: Artificial Intelligence and Data Centers

Thoughts on….Everything - Part Deux

So, the Part Deux has two origins. I took French throughout High School because back then, it was the language of diplomacy and I thought I should know that. But also, my favorite movies are always comedies, and Hot Shots, Part Deux is one of those. However, it was not as good as the Austin Powers trilogy, which may be the three finest films ever made.

But I digress.

Thoughts on….Everything - Volume One

Actually, we live in a very fast moving world. And whether you love him or hate him, we have a president who appears to be active 24 hours a day but I presume he has to sleep sometime, although I cannot discern when he does that.

I have a lot to say, and it will take me 4 or 5 weeks of missives to say it. So, here is Volume 1 of Thoughts on Everything

Whither Thou Goest, American Empire?

I am writing this on March 31, 2026. At this moment, I don’t know where the war in Iran is going. Neither do you. There is, of course, the oft repeated “fog of war”. Additionally however, neither side wants to tell their opponent what they are doing. Deception has always been a major part of war and in fact both sides may be publicly giving intentionally false information to confuse the enemy.

Reshaping The World

You all have not heard from me for a while for reasons I espoused in my previous missive. I was all ready to write one about 3 weeks ago which was to be entitled “The Economy and the Next Election.”

Then the war in Iran began. And all those matters I was going to write about suddenly became less important and immediate.

The Trump National Security Strategy

The Trump administration released its “National Security Strategy” in November of 2025. It is an extremely important document that outlines the strategy by which this administration will make all foreign policy decisions for the next three, and hopefully seven years, should JD Vance win in 2028.

Year-End Round-Up

This is the first missive you have had in a few weeks and the last one you will get this year. I am very busy with life and continue to have a few non-life threatening but annoying health issues which sideline me from time to time. So, I will take a sabbatical until January. When I come back, I am likely to make these monthly rather than weekly blogs. But, I’ll see how things stand in 2026!

Now to a quick round up of some issues right now:

It’s Never Been Like This…Except It Has

“I’ve never seen it this bad,” you say. The country is so divided. The constitution is being shredded. The Communists and Islamists are taking over. We have an authoritarian government. The judiciary is out of control.

I could go on. You may never have seen it this bad. But that doesn’t mean that before you formed memories, it had never been like this.

Because it has.

Economics and the Cold Civil War

Bill Clinton beat George H.W. Bush for president in 1992 in no small part because of his campaign’s focus on “it’s the economy, stupid”. There were many other issues, as there always are. But the country was in recession and Clinton was able to lay the fault for that firmly at the feet of the incumbent president. It is hard for the party in power to win elections if the economy is in bad shape. There are many examples of this.
